Cv Advice

http://www.gfw.org.uk/careers/mentoring/career-guide/how-to-write-a-cv/

I’ve just found this post about writing the ideal CV for fashion jobs as due to how competitive the industry is – your’s needs to stand out!

This gave me some good advice and things to consider such as adding in more details such as elaborating on past jobs and experiences, however I don’t want my CV to be too long or looked like everything’s been cramped on to the page, I may need to experiment more with layouts and see if this make my CV more informative about who I am.

Just a thought

Looking at portfolio’s and I came across one shown on Youtube, this is a great way to reach out to potential clients and employees it’s another source that you can show yourself on. Many people who have done videos singing have become ‘Youtube famous’ so why couldn’t you with a portfolio?

Creative people prefer to visualise

Looking at ideas for portfolio layout on Pinterest has really helped by giving me ideas visually instead of just being told , I like to see things more than hear them, apparently according to a careers advisor I spoke to at university this is normal for someone studying a creative project, we prefer to visualise elements of work and ideas…

I have created a board on Pinterest of portfolio ideas that inspire me

Create a portfolio

http://www.gfw.org.uk/careers/mentoring/career-guide/how-to-create-a-successful-portfolio/

Today I have been looking in to how to create a successful portfolio, as I am currently working on my own for my professional project. I wanted to make sure I was going down the right path with what I have been doing.
From reading this it has made me think about my layout as well as how many pages I have ( currently 51!!) and it seems like far too many..I’m going to look at condensing projects down to shorten my portfolio as due to it being so long it may not keep the reader interested.

I am defiantly going to be looking in to this more to make sure my portfolio is successful!

Hello new followers!

http://www.entrepreneuronfire.com/7-ways-to-build-your-online-presence/

I’ve been looking into creating ‘online presence’ as this is a key aspect to one of my final projects within university, I need to be able to create a social status in the social media world. As this can lead to new job opportunity’s, meeting new people and gaining new experiences!

One of the main things I can do is stay active on my blog and social media profiles..

Within my Instagram account I post about my progress of my university work through photo’s as well as personal photo’s of my family and friends and what I am up to,as I think this is a good way for possible employers to see the real you and get to know who you really are, instead of a filtered profile only showing your work. This doesn’t give that person a sense of who you are or what your personalty’s like ..

My linked in profile is kept professional as I think this is appropriate due to it being a main business network people don’t want to know that I am currently at the cinema etc.. it’s a professional way for people to see me.

This is how I have decided to set myself up on social media to create a presence of who I am.

Pinintrests me

Pinterest was always something I was signed up on but the past few months I have been starting to use it to help inspire work and research. I find that it is a useful way to keep hold of images without having to remember where you saved them or what name you called them which in my case is along the lines of ‘ kgjfidhseikg’ . I think it’s a really useful way to visualise work and this is a way I feel I benefit from more.

I have created boards that have helped me with my professional studies module by providing me with research and motivating images, as well as my final major project as my final theme of human anatomy was proving difficult to get photos.

This is a website I plan to keep on using in the future as it’s really inspiring!
